Five Koreans were arrested for allegedly running an illegal online gambling operation in barangay Subabasbas, Lapu-Lapu City.

Steve Lee, also known as Park Sangmin, 32, Jeong Jong Ho, 42; Park In Gyu, 30; An Ji Hwan, 32;and Kang Jae Wook, 39, were arrested inside a house in Banyan Street in Pacific Grand Villas last Thursday night.

Police said Lee was the subject of a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Meinrado Paredes.

The raid was conducted by members of the Regional Special Operation Group (RSOG), an operating unit of the Regional Intelligence Division).

Seized from the house were three CPUs, seven computer monitors, three keyboards, a laptop, an Ipad, cellular phones, calculators and other computer gadgets.

Chief Insp. George Ylanan, RSOG chief, said Lee was the subject of the search warrant but the other Koreans were also arrested after they were caught operating the computers used in online gambling.

Police said most of the suspects’ clients are fellow Koreans. Some clients are from other foreign countries.

Police said the clients used credits cards and betting. The operation involved results of  basketball and softball games abroad.

Ylanan said the Koreans did not resist arrest.

“Kahibaw man sila nga illegal (They know what they were doing was illegal),” Ylanan said.
