/ 12:13 AM August 15, 2012

Two men took advantage of a heavy downpour and robbed the passengers of an FX taxi in Quezon City Tuesday morning.

Armed with knives, the robbers struck as the taxi, bound for the Pantranco bus terminal on Quezon Avenue, neared the Delta area in Barangay South Triangle at 11:30 a.m.

Reports reaching the Kamuning police station said one of the robbers apparently sat in the back of the vehicle, while the other sat in the middle, waiting for an opportunity to strike.

Passenger Lawrence Joy de la Fuente, 19, said the two men announced the robbery as the taxi, with license plates UVE 528, approached Delta.

De la Fuente said the robbers ordered the taxi’s severn passengers to hand over their belongings. They took money but were choosy with cell phones, returning old models to the passengers.

The robbers got off a few blocks away and escape on foot.

Another passenger, high school teacher Agapita Jungco, said the robbers made off with her wedding ring and earrings, but did not get her cell phone.

The taxi driver, Crisostomo Sison, 42, also lost his earnings for that morning. He did not say how much he lost.
