THE COUNTRY’S top motocross rider Kenneth San Andres and Cebu’s Jon Eleazar Adlawan headline the list of top contenders in this weekend’s Mayor Michael Rama National Invitational Motocross Cup to be held in Lipata, Minglanilla and at the South Road Properties (SRP).

Organized by the Power Sports Racing and the Cebu City Government in cooperation with Kopiko, the race is expected to showcase the country’s best motocross riders headed by San Andres and Adlawan, who will be competing in the expert and pro division.

The race on Saturday will be a tune-up race to be held in Lipata, Minglanilla while the main event on Sunday will be held at the SRP, where a super cross track be put up for the event.

“The race in Lipata is just a teaser for a much more difficult and action-packed race at the SRP,” said race director Edsel Odulio during yesterday’s SCOOP Forum at the Baseline restaurant.

Others present during the press conference were organizer Jonas Adlawan and technical director Arnold Ignacio.

The race track at the SRP will feature around 50 jumps with a total of 900 meters. Around a hundred motocross riders coming from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will be in Cebu for the event.

Among the noted riders include Dondon Yuson of Ilo-ilo, Team Pacquiao headed by Buboy Fernandez and Jovie Saulog. Local riders will also be competing headed by Adlawan, the Abellar brothers Juvenile and Jovanni and Pipo Rubi.

The race will have expert open, expert 125, professional open, intermediate, open beginners, beginners enduro, novice, executive, veterans, peewee and habal-habal categories. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL with a report from Palompon Institute of Technology Intern Agnes Divina Enguito
