Take care of yourselves, Philippine Red Cross chair tells public

MANILA, Philippines—“Take care of yourselves.”

This is the message of Philippine Red Cross chair, former Senator Dick Gordon to the public on Tuesday amid mass evacuations in flooded parts of Metro Manila.

“We can classify the situation as life-threatening,” Gordon said on his official account on the social networking site Facebook.

He said the Philippine National Red Cross has deployed teams and all their choppers for rescue operations. People who need rescuing may call their emergency line at 527-000 however, he said women, children, the sick and elderly are their priorities in their operations.

“‘Yung mga kailangan ang unang ire-rescue dapat… Kung safe naman ay hindi naman ipa-prioritize,” he explained.

Likewise, Gordon said that the public should heed the warning of government agencies regarding evacuation.

“Kapag sinabi na evacuate, dapat nakahanda na kayo, dala ang tubig ninyo, gamot. Take care of yourselves. Wag makipagsapalaran,” he said.
