MANILA, Philippines – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) recommended through the Secretary of National Defense the suspension of work in government offices in the National Capital Region on Monday due to rains.

“We recommended through the Secretary of National Defense…except yung may kinalaman dito pagtulong sa disaster kagaya ng DPWH, DSWD, hindi pwede yan, DOH, AFP, Coast Guard, PNP, BFP, basta katulong dito hindi sila kasali dito,” NDRRMC executive director Benito Ramos told reporters in a phone interview.

Once approved by the President, Ramos said the suspension of work in government offices would take effect immediately.

Ramos said rains will continue until Monday night due to three weather systems–the southwest monsoon, a low pressure area near West Philippine Sea across Iba, Zambales and tropical storm “Gener.”
