Silvano eyes knockout vs Cabilla

By

Dalaguete, Cebu native Virgilio “Maton” Silvano is confident he can knockout Charlie “SteelBar” Cabilla in Sunday’s main event of Fight Fury I: Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) lightflyweight championships at the J Center Mall’s newly built Convention Hall in Mandaue City.

Silvano, the PBF’s number one contender in the lightweight division, wrapped up his three-month training under the supervision of renowned trainer Christopher Tepora.

“I finished around a hundred rounds of sparring sessions and I am very confident of winning against Cabilla,” said Silvano.

Silvano has sparred against IBF lightflyweight champion Johnriel Casimero, who also trains under Teopra at the Omega Gym.

“I can finish the fight in seven rounds and I am ready to face Jerson Mancio for the Philippine lightflyweight title,” added Silvano, who sports a record of 11-2 (win-loss) with six knockouts.

Cabilla, ranked no. 7 in the country’s lightflyweight division, has a 12-10 record with two knockouts.

Cabilla will arrive in Cebu from Bukidnon tomorrow together with trainer Roel Kaamino and teammate Ryan Boncawil, who will fight no. 8 contender in the 112-lb. division Jason Canoy in the co-main event.

Meanwhile, Jordan Catubay of the Omega Gym will have to change his gameplan after his opponent Anthony Galigao of Tagbilaran, Bohol was replaced by Cebuano Sherwin Caday for the 112-lb. undercard.

The official weigh-in will be held tomorrow at the Games and Amusements Board office.
