GERMAN ACCUSED OF BURNING BUILDING

A GERMAN national was accused of burning a two-story building after he and his Filipina wife argued in barangay Cotcot, Liloan town, northern Cebu.

Police said Carl Hind Hoper refused to talk to investigators after the incident which happened last Sunday.

The damaged building was used as a stockroom.

Police said Hoper and his wife Majalia argued inside a tent past 4 p.m. over domestic matters.

Majalia told police that she left the tent with a lighter and a pack of cigarettes. The building later went ablaze.

Majalia said Carl didn’t do anything when the building caught fire.  No one was injured.

The fire was contained  about three minutes after it was reported.

MAN ATTACKS PARTNER

A 56-YEAR-OLD woman was wounded after her live-in partner allegedly attacked her with a knife in their house in barangay Cantao-an, Naga City, south Cebu.

Nacaria Canuot was wounded in the neck and left arm.  The man, German Basmayor, 36, was arrested after the incident.

Police said Canuot was preparing dinner last Monday night when her partner grabbed her from behind and tried to slash her neck.

Police said the victim  fought back and shouted for help.

The man ran away. The woman was brought to the hospital  for treatment while her partner was later arrested by responding police./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC

HOUSE IN APAS BURGLARIZED

JEWELRY and electronic gadgets worth P100,000 were stolen  from a house in barangay Apas, Cebu City.

Jessica Belhot, 27, said she discovered that her house was burlagrized when she arrived from work on Tuesday.

The burglars entered the house through the window jealousies, said police./SWU INTERN AGNES DOMASIG

MAN FOUND DEAD

THE body of a 50 year-old man was found floating in a river in barangay Sibago, Pinamungajan town, Cebu.

The fatality was identified as Alejandro Shalana.

Police said  Shalana attended the birthday party of his niece last Tuesday afternoon and had a drinking session with friends.

The man left the party at around 9 p.m.

Shalana’s wife became worried when her husband failed to return home.

The victim’s sister-in-law  found Shalana  floating in the river, said police./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC

MECHANIC STABBED, HURT

A 29-YEAR-OLD motorcycle mechanic was stabbed and wounded by two men in barangay San Nicholas, Cebu City .

Sherwin Sanchez was walking home when he was stabbed allegedly by Charlito Romero and Charlito Romeo, 25, past 9 p.m. last Tuesday.

Police said the attack happened after the two men attended a mediation hearing over a dispute at the barangay hall.

Police said the two men figured in a fistfight last Sunday.

The two suspectsfled after the incident, while Sanchez was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center, said police./SWU INTERN AGNES DOMASIG
