MWSS launches 2nd phase of QC aqueduct upgrade

MANILA, Philippines—Authorities inaugurated on Tuesday the second phase of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System’s Angat Water Utilization and Aqueduct Improvement Project (Awuaip) at the La Mesa Dam Portal in Quezon City.

The Awuaip Phase 2 included the construction of a new 9.9-kilometer Aqueduct No. 6 and the rehabilitation of the deteriorated section of 5.5-km Aqueduct No. 5 that will facilitate water conveyance from Angat Dam to the La Mesa and Balara water treatment plants.

The Awuaip is a three-phase project that aims to recover some 394 million liters of water lost daily due to leakages.
