Frenchman nabbed for uploading sex video

A 39-year-old Frenchman was arrested by the police after he allegedly paid an underage girl for sex, videotaped the act and then uploaded the footage on the Internet, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Wednesday. Geert Maurice Josef Bovoi alias Wayne was arrested by CIDG operatives, along with the girl’s alleged pimp, Veronica Catalan, 28, of Mexico, Pampanga, CIDG Director Samuel D. Pagdilao Jr. said. The two were arrested at 3:30 p.m. on July 10 at Robinsons Place mall in Ermita, Manila, by CIDG operatives who also rescued the 17-year-old girl, the CIDG said in a statement. Pampanga CIDG head Chief Insp. Fernando Cunanan Jr., said the suspect paid the victim sometime last year P8,000 for sexual services and recorded the act on a video camera. In April, the victim and her parents filed a complaint with the police after they found out that sex video had been uploaded online.  DJ Yap

3 rob suspects killed

Three suspected bank robbers were killed in a shoot-out with police operatives after they were spotted acting suspiciously near a bank in Fairview, Quezon City, around 2 p.m. Wednesday. Chief Supt. Mario de la Vega, Quezon City Police District director, said that members of the District Intelligence Operating Unit were monitoring banks in the city as a deterrent against robberies when they spotted three men wearing bull caps acting suspiciously near the Metrobank branch on Commonwealth Avenue. When the three were approached by policemen, they took out guns and fired at the lawmen, leading to a shoot-out. The three have yet to be identified. Nancy C. Carvajal
