Rain in parts of S. Luzon, Visayas due to ITCZ

MANILA, Philippines –An intertropical convergence zone is affecting Southern Luzon and Visayas, which may bring cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

In an ITCZ, winds merge and become a breeding ground for low pressure areas.

Rains will be spread over Batangas, Mindoro Provinces and Palawan which may trigger flashfloods and landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

The rest of Luzon and Visayas will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, while Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

No potential cyclones are being monitored outside the country, Pagasa said.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest to southeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from southwest over Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago wil be slight to moderate.
