RWS Gym, Yamagata boxers see action on July 22 in Compostela

By

PHILIPPINE superflyweight champion Marco Demecillo of the RWS Gym of Cebu will headline an 11-bout fight card in Compostela, Cebu on July 22.

The unbeaten Demecillo (16W-0L-1D, 12KOs) will fight Jethro Pabustan (17W-1L-3D, 5 KOs) in a 10-round, non-title bout.

Last April in Mactan, Demecillo survived a first round knockdown to dethrone Marvin Mabait by TKO in the third. Demecillo also fights under the name Marco Singwagcha to honor his sponsor, Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha.

Pabustan fights out of Agoncillo, Batangas and stopped Jestoni Pepito in four rounds in his last outing.

In the supporting main event, Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) featherweight champion Adonis “TI Yamagata” Aguelo of Mandaue City will go for the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) interim featherweight belt against Jerry Nardo (14W-1L, 7 KOs) of Bacolod City.

Aguelo (17W-7L-1D, 10 KOs) trains under the TI Cebu gym of Brix Flores and is sponsored by Japanese boxing patron Akira Sato. Last May, Aguelo stopped Gadwin Tubigon in four rounds at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.

Reigning Philippine featherweight champion Michael Farenas is scheduled for a WBA world title challenge in Japan later this month leading to Aguelo and Nardo to fight for an interim belt.

Other undercard bouts pit Jason Redondo Singwangcha of the RWS Gym vs. Eman Labanza of the Phil-Aust gym of Mandaue City for a PBF belt (10 rounds); Gerpaul ‘TI Yamagata’ Valero vs. Romnick Magos (RWS) 10 rounds; Buhay Boksingero flyweight and PBF  champion Rajah Renoel Pael vs. Louie Arlos (8 rds); Ardie ‘TI Yamagata’ Boyose vs. Arnel Caoktoy (6 rds); TI Yamagata ‘Dodong’ Masashi of Japan vs. Jonathan Francisco (6 rds); Kenny Demecillo of RWS gym vs. Alvin Arresgado (4 rds); Jun Ryan Quimbo vs. Bryan Samson (4 rds); Jayvee Galea vs. Roel Sumabong (4 rds) and RJ Gonzales vs. Lloyd Hardeliza (4 rds).
