Several roads in Pasig closed to traffic for foundation day

MANILA, Philippines – Several roads in Pasig City  have been temporarily closed to traffic since early Monday as the city celebrates its 439th foundation day, a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority-Metrobase official said.

Banjo Setisanan said the closure started at 6:00 a.m. and will continue “until all activities have been concluded,” adding that no specific time was supplied by the local government as to the lifting of the traffic re-routing.

The roads closed were:

-Plaza Rizal and P.Burgos Street in Barangay (village) San Jose
-Dr. Pilapil Street in Barangay (village) Sagad
-A.Mabini Street in Barangay (village) Kapasigan

-C.Raymundo Avenue (Southbound) from Mercedez Avenue up to Stella Maris Street
-Mercedez Avenue (both direction) from Market Ave up to C. Raymundo Avenue

MMDA’s advisory said vehicles from Bagumbayab or San Joaquin going to public market can take Elisco road, left to M.Jimenez Street to cross Kalawaan Bridge, left to F.Antonio Street, right to F.Manalo Street, to destination.

To Crossing or Quiapo, motorists can take M.Concepcion Street, straight to San Juan Guillermo Street, right to C5 road, to destination.

Vehicles to Marikina, on the other hand, can take R.Jabson Street, left to E.Santos Street, right to Lopez Jaena Street to Cross Sta. Rosa de Lima Bridge, to destination.

For vehicles coming from public market planning to go to San Joaquin or Bagumbayan can take Balderrama Street, right to F.Antonio Street, left to M.Jimenez Street to cross Kalawaan Bridge, right to Elisco road, to destination.

In going to Crossing, Quiapo, Marikina, Ugong, or Eastren Rizal, drivers can take F.Manalo Street, left to E.Angeles Street, to destination; or Market Avenue, left to Mercedes Avenue.

Vehicles from Rotonda going to San Joaquin, or Bagumbayan can, meanwhile, take Blumentritt Street, or Alcalde Jose Street, left to Lopez Jaena Street, left to Dr. Garcia Street, right to R.Jabson Street to cross Bambang Bridge, to destination.

To get to the public market, vehicles can take C.Raymundo Avenue, right to Mercedez Avenue, right to Market Avenue to destination; or Blumentritt Street, or Alcalde Jose Street, left to Lopez Jaena Street, left to Dr. Garcia Street, left to R.Jabson Street, right to G.Raymundo Street, left to F.Manalo to point of destination.

Number coding was also lifted in Pasig City, Setisanan said.

Had the number coding scheme been in effect in Pasig City Monday, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 would have been barred from its main roads from 7: 00  a.m. to 7:00  p.m.
