By

Police yesterday said a third suspect was identified in Thursday dawns ’murder of a mother in her home in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.

Chief Insp. Conrado Manatad, police precinct 2 chief, said Deo Malingin, brother of Demetrio and Jay Malingin was spotted at a distance where the shooting took place.

Jerry Aying, husband of murder victim Prima Paquibot Aying, said Deo Malingin acted as a lookout while his brothers Demetrio and Jay Malingin strafed their house.

Prima died as she tried to protect her sleeping children while the suspects strafed their house. She was rushed to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound in the head. She didn’t survive. .

Jerry said Demetrio’s neighbors in sitio Kasanta, barangay Mactan told him that the three men were always together during drug deals.

Murder charges will be filed against the three men at the Lapu-Lapu City Prosecutor’s office today.

Manatad said Jerry told them that Jay and Deo were with Demetrio when they killed his brother Roy Aying last year.

He said Demetrio’s neighbors didn’t testify against Demetrio for fear of their safety.

Demetrio faced murder charges for Roy’s murder and his companions were not identified.

Manatad said the murder is part of an ongoing “blood feud” between the Malingin and Aying families.

He said they will find more witnesses and evidence to bolster their case.

Senior Insp. Zenaido Pastorfide, homicide section chief of the Lapu-Lapu City police, said they have ordered police personnel to patrol the Aying family home.

“We advised Jerry to stay home as much as possible since the suspects may be monitoring him,” he said.

Jerry’s children called on the Lapu-Lapu City police to arrest the suspects.

“Nganong gi-apil man siya nga wala man to siya apil anang ilang away sa akong papa buotan man siya (Why was she dragged into their fight with my father. She was so kind),” said 22-year-old Jomar Aying, the eldest among his siblings.

He said they were also afraid the suspects might come back and kill them.

Manatad said they will continually monitor Jerry’s family and expedite the arrest of the suspects.

Manatad said Demetrio was identified with the group of Alex Oyao, a known drug figure who was killed in a shootout with police last March.

The shooting occured amid an anti-drug rally held by Cebu police that was attended by students, police and local officials in Fuente Osmeña last Thursday.
