Slight rains to soak Cebu, C. Visayas
LIGHT to moderate rains will be experienced by Cebu and other parts of Central Visayas due to the entry of Tropical Storm “Dindo” in the country, the Mactan office of the state weather bureau Pagasa said yesterday.
Pagasa Mactan weather analyst Ella Comahig said “Dindo’s” presence will be felt mostly in the northern part of Luzon which will experience heavy rains that can trigger flashfloods.
“Dindo” is estimated to be traveling in the east northeast portion of Virac, Catanduanes.
The Police Regional Office (PRO-7) said they have ordered their units to be on standby for rescue and relief operations.
Senior Supt. Rolando Ualat, PRO-7 chief, said their standing policy mandates them to coordinate with the local disaster councils for rescue, relief and even rehabilitation works.
He said some police officials have their own rubber boats or other equipment that may be used for any calamities.
Senior Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe said he told his people to monitor residents living near riverbanks and landslide prone areas.
Those living in critical sites will be advised to move to higher ground, he said.
In Mandaue City, two truck loads of garbage were taken from 27 manholes along M.C. Briones Highway in Mandaue City as part of a cleanup campaign for the rainy season.
Most of the garbage were plastic materials, Bakilid Barangay Captain Dionisio Villamor said.
