Rally vs illegal drugs in Fuente today

By ,

A RALLY against illegal drugs will be held at the Fuente Osmeña circle today.

The rally is initiated by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) dubbed as Movement Against Illegal Drugs (MAD).

Senior Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe, head of CCPO, said an oath of commitment, drug-prevention seminar, streamer display, drug campaign seminars, slogan-making contests, entertainment numbers and photo exhibits among others will be conducted.

Buenafe said the march will be divided in four sectors or areas in Cebu City to include the Ayala area, Capitol façade, corner V. Rama and Abellana area going to Fuente Osmeña.

Buenafe said the march and rally assembly time in each area is at 2 p.m. Motorists are advised on possible heavy traffic in the area.

Buenafe said they are coordinating with the Cebu City Traffic Operations Management to facilitate the traffic flow in Ayala, Gorordo, General Maxilom, Mango Avenue, Fuente Osmeña, V. Rama and B. Rodriguez junctions.

According to Buenafe, several government and private sectors are expected to attend today’s rally that will converge at Fuente rotunda.

Students from private and public schools, religious sectors, government agencies and barangay officials are expected to attend.

Buenafe said the first MAD rally last year had about 22,000 participants.

The MAD Task Force was organized last year to signify government’s war against illegal drugs.

Hotline numbers in streamers are provided to the public to report illegal drug activities.
