Former cop facing murder raps arrested

CEBU CITY-A former policeman is behind bars following his arrest Thursday night to face murder charges in Mindanao.
Alejandro Desuyo, 34, was hiding with his relatives on A. Lopez Street in Barangay Calamba when operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) served his arrest warrant past 9 p.m.
Desuyo tried to escape when he saw the CIDG team but was caught following a brief chase, said Inspector Delfin Bontuyan, team leader of the arresting team.
Desuyo was a police officer 2 before he was dismissed from the service in 2011 after he went on absence without leave in 2010 when murder charges were filed against him for killing his friend during a drinking spree in Lanao del Norte.
Judge Concordio Baguio of Iligan Regional Trial Court issued an arrest warrant on Feb. 12, 2012.
The CIDG-7 received information that the suspect was hiding with his relatives in Barangay Calamba. After a month of surveillance, the CIDG-7 enforced the arrest warrant.
