Suspected gun-for-hire arrested in Nueva Ecija
MANILA, Philippines – A 35-year old suspected member of a gun-for-hire group was arrested in Nueva Ecija before dawn Wednesday, a police spokesman said.
Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said the suspect, identified as Gelacio Castillo Vero a.k.a Darwin/Monching/Dapo/JR/RJ, was arrested at Purok 1, Barangay (village) Betes in Aliaga, Nueva Ecija around 2:30 a.m. for murder.
Vero, who is a suspected member of the Red Vigilante Group which operates in Aliaga, Nueva Ecija, allegedly killed at least three persons – a certain Domingo Mariano, Fernando Nicolas a.k.a Bayot and Nerito Sandian, Cruz said.
Recovered from his house were a baby armalite rifle, three long magazines, 31 live ammunition of 5.56 millimeter armalite, a caliber .45 pistol, and a magazine with two live ammunition, said the spokesman.
Vero is now under the custody of police but Cruz said the suspect will be turned over later to the court.
