MANILA, Philippines – Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan lauded the Judicial and Bar Council’s (JBC) decision to allow live media coverage of the selection process for next Chief Justice, calling it a  “symbol of transparency”  in the judicial system, a Radyo Inquirer report said on Tuesday.

The report said Pangilinan, who was a former chairman of the senate committee on justice and a former member of the JBC, hoped that the decision would pave the way for greater accountability and better governance in courts.

The JBC announced on Monday that it would allow live media coverage of the selection process.
