The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila was established by virtue of Republic Act No. 4196 which was approved on June 19, 1965. Officially opened on July 17, 1967, with an initial enrollment of 556 freshmen scholars, it is one of the country’s first tuition-free institutions of higher learning.
