DSWD continues to help street children in Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines—Street children in the cities of Metro Manila are being kept and given constant counselling by the Department of Social Welfare and Department said Secretary Dinky Soliman on Sunday said over Radyo Inquirer.

Once given the proper counselling, Soliman said as much as possible they are turned over to their parents though most of them go back to the streets.

She said the people can help in solving this problem by not giving alms to street children and it would be better to report or bring them to the nearest DSWD office.

She also warned the public not to entertain street children and mendicants who give solicitation envelops on public buses because they could be part of organized crime groups or syndicates.
