‘Trainey,’ ‘Railey’? Netizens pitch in quirky names for LRT baby

MANILA, Philippines – Quirky baby names flooded in Thursday as netizens scrambled to pitch in after woman gave birth to a baby girl in one of the trains of the Light Railway Transit.

“LRT1 passenger gave birth inside moving train from Baclaran Station assisted by fellow passengers and LRTA personnel. Will post further details, prepare names you may suggest for the child,” lawyer Hernando Cabrera, spokesman of LRT posted in his Twitter account @attycabs to break the news.

Among the names suggested which he posted later were: “Trayne,” “Railey,” and “Laura Regina Teresa.”

FEATURED STORIES

Names which gave a hint of the acronym of the train such as “LoReTa,” “Elarty,” “Trayna,” “Toquen,” and “Lara Rose Teeny,” were also recommended, he tweeted.

Other names submitted which he posted were “Treinne,” “Stored Value” and “Baclaran.”

“Metra,” “Helena,” “Betty,” “Katraina,” “LifetimefreeLRTride,” “Laureen Rai,” “Liberty,” “Petra,” and “Lerna Trina,” were also among the names he posted.

Meanwhile, INQUIRER.net readers also suggested baby names which were just as quirky.

“Ellar Thea,” “Latrinne,” “Elarteena,” “Lian Rose Tiarra,” “Elar Tijuana,” “Lovely Raine Twinkle,” “Leandra Rosalinda Therese,” and “Trenedad,” were among the names proposed by the readers in the comments thread.

But the father of the child is contemplating of naming the child “Lilibeth” after Libertad Station, Cabrera posted later in his Twitter account.

The baby was born while the train was in transit between Libertad and Gil Puyat Stations northbound, he said.

He added that the mother, who was identified in radio reports as Angel Hucba, was assisted by LRT personnel and fellow passengers to the Philippine General Hospital. With a report from Fe Zamora, Philippine Daily Inquirer
