Corona staff given a month pack and leave

Chief Justice Renato Corona

MANILA, Philippines—The staff of Chief Justice Renato Corona has 30 days to pack and leave, acting Supreme Court spokesperson Gleo Guerra said Wednesday.

At a press conference, Guerra told reporters that acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio has been given 30 days to pack and turn over documents to the Supreme Court.

On the other hand, the Public Information Office, which is under the Office of the Chief Justice, has been extended until after a new Chief Justice has been appointed.

Guerra said it will be up to the new Chief Justice if the SC-PIO will be retained.

“At a press conference, Guerra told reporters that acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio has been given 30 days to pack and turn over documents to the Supreme Court.”

  • pabloustedes

It could be written as, Justice Carpio has given them 30 days to pack up or Justice Carpio gave them 30 days to pack up….. anyway that could be an honest mistake or a typo, hindi co-mingled funds?

  • GloriaMA

Obviously the writer is pro corona that’s why he wants Justice Antonio Carpio to pack up even before he has the chance to sit as acting chief justice.

It is only normal that the staff who work directly with Renato Corona be replaced.  The new Chief Justice should be able to work comfortably with the people he will trust.  One thing the new Chief Justice should look into is to have the whole Supreme Court audited. He will avoid the mess of
that scandal concerning the disposal of the funds that was loaned by the Int’l Monetary Funds or the ADB (I forgot which international org. it was).

About Justice Carpio’s given one month to pack and leave, let us give the writer the
benefit of the doubt that it was typo error.  She should correct the error.

I am of the opinion, that all of those SC Staff who demonstrated for Corona, taking unauthorized holidays etc., should resign.  SC staff should be unbiased and impartial,  their behavior indicated they do not have those values.

  • opinyonlangpo

I hope Midas Marquez is the first to pack and leave since he is always the one standing out among his staff. Ooops Justice Carpio is asked to pack and leave too.

  • ted

to begin with, Justice Carpio should have been the chief justice and Corona would not have suffered the ignominy of shame, blame it to GMA and to himself,

  • ted

hey midas marquez sak my dik but first brush yur teeth and of course i wear rubber malamang meron ka eds

    1.  “….. has 30 days to pack and leave”     Suggested: “…..has been given 30 days to wind-up their official duties.”

    2.  second paragraph doesn’t make any sense at all!!

    3.  Starting a new parag with “on the other hand” is not good sentence construction…

    4.  “….extended until after..”  is a very bad sentence construction, it is unclear, it could mean that they have work “beyond” the time a new CJ is appointed…

    5.   sama….

  • opinyonlangpo

What are the charges against Justice Antonio Carpio? At least they should give him a chance to defend himself in court. Or maybe this reporter is into drugs and was hallucinating. What kind of journalism is this? Its been 8 hrs and still not corrected.

The Supreme Court should not let their Independence be harassesd and disregarded by politicians otherwise Filipinos especially the poor who are usually unheard (statistically) to express their human and civil rights will suffer greatly . never in the history of the Phl Justice System that poor get what they have been crying for (Hacienda Luisita poor farmers) till lately under the present group of Supreme Court Justices-it is crucial and important that SC must exercise its independence and cannot be politicized otherwise all Filipinos can ba castrated by any influential and rich who has political influence. God save the poor fromall the mistreatment and injustices   they have to endure unfortunately from this dictator.

Do you really think that because a decision against a capitalist was rendered, there was no money or consideration given by the winning party?  Think again, that even in labor cases, the laborers won their case because the labor arbiter has also a “cut” in the monetary judgment awarded to the laborers.   Go ask any union member or someone who was laid off and won a labor case.  You will be surprised that they did not get all what was awarded.  May “balato” kay Labor Arbiter.
Kabayan, marami ang korap na justice, huwes at labor arbiter, isa na si Corona doon at dapat lang na matanggal bilang panimula.  PNoy is not that smart or foolish to undermine the independence of the judiciary.  Palusot o depensa lang ni Corona iyan at iyong kapwa niyang kawatan na kumukunsinte sa kanyang baluktot na gawain.
