ALMOST 400 volunteers turned up for the school community brigade of Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) in Tuburan town in northwest Cebu last April 22.

The volunteers — composed of parents, teachers, military personnel from the 78th Infantry Batallion and RAFI-Microfinance Balamban branch, the Tuburan community, Young Minds Academy alumni and the Barangay Luz Youth Coalition — participated in activities that included cleanups, painting of classroom furniture and school buildings, minor repairs and setting up of a tree nursery.

“Through the school community brigade, the bayanihan spirit is manifested,” said Almira Brigonli, a volunteer from the local government of Tuburan.
