Binondo fire placed under control

MANILA, Philippines -The fire that gutted a shopping mall in Binondo, Manila, Thursday afternoon was placed under control by firemen, a fire official said.

Fire Officer 2 Owen Ferrera said the blaze that raged through the 1188 Shopping Center on Jose Abad Santos was contained at 1:49 p.m., some 30 minutes after it started at 1:19 p.m.

No immediate reports of injuries or casualties have reached the fire department’s office, he said, adding that the cause of the blaze will be investigated. Jamie Marie Elona
