Basa family saddened by Corona testimony vs father

MANILA, Philippines—Members of the Basa family expressed sadness over Chief Justice Renato Corona’s statement against their father Jose Basa when the chief magistrate testified at Tuesday’s impeachment trial at the Senate.
Anna, Isabel, Carmen, Franchesca and Eric Basa were present during Day 40 of the impeachment proceedings where Corona told the court the father of the Basas was a “spoiled brat”.
Speaking on behalf of her siblings, Carmen said that they felt “very sad” when their father’s name was dragged in the issue.
“What he said was untrue and shows his true character. As a Chief Justice, he should know better,” she said.
She added that they would not stoop down to his level by justifying his statements.
They said that they arrived in the country on Monday just to hear the testimony of Corona.
