Bakud’s choice
I was recently informed that Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale will be the vice gubernatorial bet of the Liberal Party under the leadership of former Cebu city councilor Jun Jun Davide. The Bakud Party of Nito Durano will forge an alliance with the Liberal Party in Cebu province.
The Duranos have time and again aligned themselves with the administration party. The 2013 election is no exception.
With this development, many are expecting a smooth tandem of Davide-Magpale against Pablo John Garcia’s One Cebu team in the Province of Cebu.
The Davide-Magpale tandem shouldn’t be complacent though because the Gracias still have aces up their sleeves. It will be a battle royal in the Province of Cebu and the winner will only enjoy a close margin.

Many Filipinos are ecstatic with the achievements of Jessica Sanchez in American Idol 2012. She’s reached the finals as one of two remaining contestants to be decided next week. It’s tight competition among the singers so when Joshua Ledet was eliminated last week by the vote poll of the public, many were shocked especially the judges.
The talented Joshua was believed to be a shoo in for the finals. He was praised several times by the judges. Jessica is getting a lot of votes from Filipinos in the US and thickly populated Mexicans. Many Fil-Mexicans are praying for her victory.
At 16 years old, Jessica Sanchez has shown she has a voice with star quality. Next to Manny Pacquiao, she makes Filipinos around the world proud and happy with her achievement.

I don’t think it’s correct for the government to consider privatizing our public hospitals which would deprive the poor easy access to medical services. Many people have experienced the difficulty of getting admitted in private hospitals which require a deposit paid first, aside from charging much higher rates.
The proposal of Rep. Tommy Osmeña to close the Cebu City Medical Center is worse than the government’s plan to privatize public hospitals. This is an anti-poor measure. The poor would be the first victims of the closure.
It’s the mandate of the city government to provide basic services to its people. Instead of closing down the CCMC, steps should be taken to improve services to the public by professionalizing staff and not allowing politicians, especially the city councilors, to dip their fingers in hospital matters. Provide an adequate number of doctors in the hospital and ensure a supply of medical equipment that is not overpriced due to someone’s commission.-
