Junjun Osmeña for Cebu south?
THE eldest son of former Cebu City vice mayor Renato Osmeña declared yesterday he is “available” for the Cebu City south congressional district in 2013.
But Renato “Junjun” Osmeña Jr. said he was prepared to submit himself to the selection process of Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK), the political group of his uncle and incumbent south district congressman Rep. Tomas Osmeña.
“I am making his public declaration to test the waters. Pero ako i submit ang akong kaugalingon sa proseso. I don’t want to be a burden to my uncle Tommy. I am his ally, not an enemy,” he said in a luncheon press conference.
Rep. Osmeña said in a separate interview that he would not want to stop anyone, including Junjun, from trying his luck in the south district congressional race.
“Anyone can run. I won’t prohibit anyone from running because this country is a democracy,” he said in an interview with station dyAB.
However, Rep. Osmeña said, blood relations would not be basis for Junjun to get the BO-PK endorsement. He added his nephew is not yet even a member of BO-PK
