The National Capital Region posted the highest number of index crimes (murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery and theft) among the country’s regions for the first quarter of the year. From January to March, there were 9,589 crimes against persons and property in Metro Manila, or about 28 percent of the total 34,043 recorded index crimes for the same period nationwide.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
