MANILA, Philippines — The statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) of members of the House of Representatives will not be released just yet, Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. told a press briefing Thursday.

Belmonte said the House would release the lawmakers SALNs once the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona ends.

“Let’s be focused and finish it [the impeachment] and go to another topic later,” Belmonte said, saying that the release of the congressmen’s SALNs could become a distraction.

He told reporters that the SALNs of the congressmen would be released after the impeachment trial, which the Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, wants to finish May 31.

Mga low-life protozoans.

  • randyaltarejos

Self-explanatory yan. Why? The congressmen’s SALNs are still being corrected to keep them error-free. They don’t want the BIR and the Ombudsman to know how much resources they have at the moment.

    • Air200

totally agree, whats wrong if public will access the SALNs of congressmen while impeachment is going on.. maybe the action is predicated that what they accused to CJ corona is the same thing they are doing in congress….. for that, we cannot get peace, we cannot move forward because the impeachment is grounded with popularity for those in powers not for the sake of the majority of the people.

  • coladu

What have the Congressmen’s SALNs have to do with the Impeachment Trial?  Focus focus or HOCUS POCUS.  Mr. Belmonte, hindi tanga ang mga Pilipino.
