Capiz town vice mayor shot dead

ROXAS CITY — Vice Mayor Abel Martinez of Mambusao town in Capiz was shot dead by a lone gunman in front of his house on Rizal Street, Poblacion proper, Mambusao, about 6 a.m. Friday.

Martinez suffered three bullets wounds in the head and two in the back, said Inspector Samuel Vipinosa, Mambusao police chief.

He said that based on accounts of witnesses, the gunman then fled to the waiting shed where his companion was waiting for him on board a motorcycle.

The two sped off toward  Jamindan town, said Vipinosa.

The vice mayor was brought to the Mambusao District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
