Participants carried banners that pledged support for the environment. “It is important that we respect Mother Earth, and I admire SM that they are united with us this evening in the celebration of Earth Hour,” said Osmeña in her speech.

“For years, SM Supermalls has internalized the ethic of sustainable business and has operated a diligent and dedicated environmental program focusing on efficient business, environmental stewardship and awareness. All of our newest SM Supermalls are designed to promote energy and resource efficiency, providing the best for our patrons while minimizing out environmental impact,” said SM City Cebu assistant mall manager Kristine Seno during her welcome message.

At 8:30 p.m., the Northwing dimmed half of its lights, including the logo of SM City Cebu in the mall façade, billboard, lights in the hallways, including tenants’ signage in the Northwing.
