MANILA, Philippines—A 56-year-old retired employee of the Land Transportation Office was found dead inside a room of an apartelle in Malate, Manila Sunday afternoon, the police said.

Mohamad Yasdi, a native of Zamboanga City, was discovered by his son Abdurajak, 30, inside the rented room at the Marivela Apartelle along Mabini Street in Malate at around 4 p.m. Sunday.

Senior Police Office 2 Ronald Gallo of the Manila Police District homicide section said the younger Yasdi was prompted to check on his father’s condition after the latter turned off his cellphone.
