More rain expected as ‘Falcon’ maintains strength–Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Depression “Falcon” has maintained its strength and would continue to bring rains over many parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In its latest weather bulletin, Pagasa said that Falcon was seen 550 kilometers east northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar still packing winds of 55 kph near the center. Falcon is expected to move northwestward at 15 kph, Pagasa said.

The whole country will have mostly cloudy skies and experience scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Skies will become cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains over the eastern sections of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao which may trigger flashfloods and landslides, Pagasa warned.

No signal warnings have been raised as of yet, the state-run weather bureau said.

“Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Southwest to Southeast will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and coming from the Southwest to West over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough,” Pagasa added.

By Wednesday morning, Falcon is expected to be 520 km northeast of Virac, Catanduanes and by Thursday evening, it is forecast to be 440 km east northeast of Basco, Batanes. By Friday evening, Falcon is forecast to be 670 northeast of Basco Batanes or 90 km south southwest of Okinawa, Japan, Pagasa said.
