He went outside to check and found  Morilla, 30,  in the bushes of his backyard.

The man may have been killed somewhere else because there were no shells in the area or signs of blood or struggle.

Morilla was the subject of several theft complaints in his neighborhood, said  homicide investigator PO3 Geoffrey Gutual.

He said a personal grudge could be the motive of the killing but not theft. The victim’s cell phone and keys were intact.

The  victim’s  cadaver was brought to St. Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy.correspondent chito aragon

A 31-year year-old man was shot dead  in barangay Ibo, Lapu-Lapu City, yesterday.

Police discovered drug paraphernalia near the body of Harold Pasiculan.

He was  drinking with a neighbor, Ramon Cinadjan, when four men on a motorcycle arrived past 1 a.m.

Pasiculan introduced the men as his neighbors when he used to live in Maribago.

The men invited Pasiculan and Cinadjan to go with them to Mactan  but Cinadjan declined as he was already dizzy.

Pasiculan hired a habal-habal driver  to bring him to Mactan.

The driver  told police later that he left the men after dropping the victim in Mactan, around 3 a.m.

Security guard Charlie Mendiola said he heard gunfire coming from the road near his post in the Mactan Export Processing Zone before  4 a.m.

That was about the time the  victim’s body was found.

A man who introduced himself as a member of police auxiliary group alerted  police that a bloodied man was lying on the ground in barangay Ibo.

Pasiculan’s relatives confirmed the identity of the body. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
