Webmasters log second win in NSBC
THE UNIVERSITY of Cebu Webmasters coasted to their second victory in the 64th National Students Basketball Championships after they blasted the San Pedro College of Business Administration, 88-67, yesterday in Dagupan City.
SPCBA was no match for the blistering quintet of head coach Rhoel Gomez as all of five scored in twin digits to help the Webmasters capture the win and usher in a new era without prized center June Mar Fajardo.
Fajardo was once the centrepiece of the two-time Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. champions before the 6-foot-10 giant exhausted his eligibility and moved on to the San Miguel Beermen in the Asean Basketball League.
The Webmasters leaned on the exploits of Brian Heruela, Edward Pao, Kim Gomez, Robinson Mohamad and Cesafi Mythical Five member Luigi Bercede to improve their record to 2-1 (win-losss).
Earlier in the day, the Webmasters lost to the NCAA’s Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals.
The champion of this tournament will represent the country in the 9th Asian University Schools Basketball Championships in Malaysia this July./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
