Anvil Awards to honor best in PR Friday

Some 700 professionals from the field of public relations and corporate communications are expected to attend the 47th Anvil Awards Friday at the Isla Ballroom of Edsa Shangri-la Hotel.

This annual event of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) is dubbed the “Oscars” of local PR practice as it recognizes outstanding programs and tools implemented from Oct. 2010 to Oct. 2011.

The much-coveted Anvil is given only to PR programs and tools that pass the high standards set by this year’s board of jurors. National Economic and Development Authority Secretary Cayetano Paderanga chaired this year’s  29-member  panel composed of acknowledged experts in PR, media, academe, government, civil society and business.

“Of the 283 entries received by PRSP, only 175 passed the initial screening. Some 21 PR programs will win Anvil Awards of Excellence while  62 will bring home Anvil Awards of Merit. In the PR tools category, 67  have been adjudged excellent and meritorious’” said 47th Anvil Committee chair Mon Isberto of Smart.

A Bronze Anvil and a Grand Anvil await the most outstanding PR tool and PR program, respectively.
