DPWH: Quezon Avenue project to cause heavy traffic

Motorists should expect heavy traffic at the intersection of G. Araneta and Quezon Avenues in Quezon City as the government begins work next week on a P430—million interchange project, Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson said yesterday.

Singson made the statement after he conducted an inspection of the alternate routes for motorists who would be affected by the implementation of the C-3 (G. Araneta Avenue)–Quezon Avenue Interchange Project starting on Monday.

He said the project involves the construction of a four-lane lane underpass on Quezon Avenue crossing Araneta Avenue, including the installation of submersible pumps to manage flooding and the construction of reinforced concrete box and pipe culverts.

To ensure that the flow of traffic will not be severely affected during the project which is expected to be completed within 450 days, Singson said they had mapped out a traffic management rerouting plan.

Bonifacio Avenue, turn right on Blumentritt, left on Dimasalang all the way to Manila.

Motorists coming from Manila through España Boulevard and going to Edsa Quezon City can turn right on E. Rodriguez Sr. straight to Edsa/Cubao Interchange, then left on Edsa/Quezon City.

For motorists coming from Sta. Mesa and Aurora Boulevard through C-3 (G. Araneta Avenue) to A. Bonifacio Avenue, they can turn left on Bayani or E. Rodriguez Avenue, right on Banawe Street, right on Amoranto Street, left on G. Araneta Avenue then straight to A. Bonifacio/North Luzon Expressway.

Singson said the complete list of alternative route could be viewed at the DPWH web site www.dpwh.gov.ph.
