MANILA, Philippines — Several armed men allegedly helped a man charged with frustrated homicide escape from a hospital in Kidapawan City Sunday, a Philippine National Police spokesman said.

Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said that four still unidentified men took detainee Randy Ogad after disarming jail guards inside Amas Provincial Hospital in Amas where Ogad was being treated for an infected wound on his leg around 1:43 a.m.

He said that the suspects, along with the detainee, fled to an undisclosed place.

He said that authorities were conducting pursuit operations for the recapture of the detainee and arrest of the suspects.
