PNP awards cops, citizens during 21st anniversary

Policemen and private individuals were awarded yesterday during the Philippine National Police’s 21st anniversary at the Police Regional Office of Central Visayas (PRO-7) in Cebu City.

Bohol Gov.  Edgar Chatto and   PRO-7 chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo handed out the awards.

A Medalya Ng Kasanayan or PNP Efficiency Medal  was given to two policewomen who arrested the manager and pimps of a KTV bar in Ubay, Bohol province  that led to the rescue of 12 victims, including minors.

The award went to Senior Insp. Maria Theresa Macatangay and Insp. Mae Ann Florenosos of the Regional Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force 7 of Regional Intelligence Division.

A similar award was given to  Chief Supt. Samuel Yordan, deputy regional director for administration, for his performance as chairman of the Police Commissioned Officers Board which was tasked to select the best-qualified police applicants.

Adriano U. Bacus, PO3 Abraham B. Paste and PO2 Alberto G. Kudemos, all from Tagbilaran City police station, Bohol, were also awarded for the arrest of drug suspect Lynn Bas Y. Tabuno of Cogon, Tagbilaran City.

“There are many reasons to rejoice due to the positive result of the intensified law enforcement operations, anti-criminality campaigns and public safety services from the police force in Central Visayas,” said Governor Chatto, who is   chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council.

“PRO7 recorded outstanding achievements in the decrease of crime volume, significant drop of the number of crimes and noteworthy improvements in crime solution efficiency rate,” he said.

Plaques of appreciation were given to  Prudencio Gesta of Cebu Bankers Club, Fayette  Riñen of Philippine Information Agency-7, Chito Aragon of the PNP-Defense Press Corps, Lim Liu of Chong Hua Hospital and Samuel Chioson of Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry. /correspondent chito aragon
