Espinosa tops Padyak Pinoy Visayas qualifying event
Ramonito Espinosa will spear head team Visayas in the upcoming International Le Tour de Filipinas this April in Cagayan Valley after he dominated the Visayas qualifying race yesterday.
Espinosa clocked 57 minutes and 40.66 seconds in the last stage of the race that started from Toledo City en route to Aloguinsan for a total distance of 40 kilometers.
Espinosa, who finished fifth in the massed start first stage that started in Cebu City to Toledo City with a total distance of 60 kilometers, upset stage one leader Marvin Tapic of Naga City, who finished second with a time of 58 minutes and 39.03 seconds.
Claiming the third spot in the overall race is Nilo Barabalose, who finished the race in one hour and 16.21 seconds.
Randy Carbonera placed fourth with a time of 1:00.33.51. Stage one second placer Romnick Bitbit of Bago City, Negros Occidental rounded off the top five riders with a time of 1:01.54.52.
The top five riders will represent Visayas for the International Le Tour de Filipinas.
Espinosa also emerged on top in Group B. Second and third placers were Gilbert Ravello and Adonis Bohol, respectively.
Rolando Pagnanawon topped group C followed by Joseph Carcueva and Melencio Java.
Ronald Navarro placed first in the group D while Rogelio Basirgo and Crispin Solon finished second and third, respectively.
Art Lambo ruled the category E race while Ronnie Adlawan placed second followed by Ike Cabarles in third place.
The race is recognized by the United Cycling International and the Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines.
The International Le Tour de Filipinas is April 14 to 17 in Cagayan Valley featuring some of the best known cyclists.
