P10M discount compromised Corona’s credibility as magistrate—Abad

By

MANILA, Philippines—Regardless of the global financial situation or the supposed “defective” condition of the upscale condominium unit when it was bought by Chief Justice Renato Corona, the P10-million discount he received in the purchase compromised his credibility as a magistrate, a Malacañang official said Tuesday.

“It is bad enough that the chief justice is discovered to have enjoyed a special favor from a big realty business that for sure one day will find itself, if not already, having dealings with the court,” said Budget Secretary Florencio Abad, who is also President Aquino’s senior political adviser.

“It’s worse that he didn’t disclose it,” he added.
