UC slated to take part in NSBC tilt
Cebu Daily NewsBASKETBALL ASSOCIATION of the Philippines (Bap) secretary-general Graham Lim was in town recently to confirm the participation of the reigning back-to-back Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) champions, University of Cebu Webmasters in the upcoming 64th National Students Basketball Championships next month in Dagupan City, Pangasinan.
The Webmasters will represent the city in the national competition after topping the Cesafi basketball tournament late last year. The NSBC is being hosted by Dagupan Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, who also happens to be the Region 1 Bap director.
UC is in for a challenging time especially with the absence of their 6-foot-10 stalwart June Mar Fajardo, who has already exhausted his playing years for the Webmasters. The Pinamungahan native is currently suiting up for the San Miguel Beermen in the Asean Basketball League.
The collegiate level will have 12 participating squads that will be divided into four different brackets. The other participating teams come from Davao City, Zamboanga City and the CARAGA Region. The NCR eliminations will be conducted last week of January. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
