MANILA, Philippines—Police arrested in Zamboanga City on Tuesday the housemaid tagged “Poison Ivy” for allegedly poisoning her employers.

Anamae Livrando was arrested at 10 a.m. in a bus terminal in the southern Philippine city, said city police director Senior Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo.

Police believed Livrando was on her way to either Cagayan de Oro or Butuan City, where she would apply for a passport.

De Ocampo said they received information that the suspect planned to get a passport so she could leave for Malaysia.

It was Mayor Celso Lobregat who received information of Livrando’s presence in the city, prompting provincial police to coordinate with those in Manila and arrest her.

De Ocampo could not say whether Livrando was a native of Zamboanga City, saying “she won’t talk to the authorities.”

He said that he has coordinated with authorities in Manila for “Poison Ivy” to be transferred to the capital.

De Ocampo explained Livrando’s modus operandi, saying that she would apply as a maid for affluent families, mostly Filipino-Chinese, lace their food with poison and rob them while in the hospital.
