Ligot couple files not guilty plea before Tax Court

MANILA, Philippines – Former military comptroller Jacinto Ligot and his wife Erlinda on Monday filed a not guilty plea for the P153 million tax evasion case they were facing at the Third Division of the Court of Tax Appeals, according to a report on Radyo Inquirer 990AM.

The report said that the preliminary conference for the case was set for February 1 while the pre-trial on February 8.

The couple is scheduled for arraignment in the same court at about 1 p.m. for yet another tax evasion case.

Meanwhile, lawyer Emiliano Bantog, legal counsel of the couple, asked the court to allow the Sandiganbayan to first finish the Ligots’ cases before pursuing the one on tax evasion. The Ligot couple faces several – from 2001 to 2004 worth more than P400 million.
