Rain or Shine routs Powerade in Game 4 to tie PBA semifinal round series at 2-2

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters fought back with vengeance as they got solid contributions from all corners to rout the Powerade Tigers, 110-95, in Game 4 of the best-of-seven semifinal series in the PBA Philippine Cup yesterday at the Araneta Coliseum.
The win allowed the Elasto Painters to bounce back from their heartbreaking 99-104 overtime loss to the Tigers in Game 3, and tie the series at 2-2.
While Powerade’s main man Gary David still managed 30 points—his sixth straight game scoring 30 or more—the rest of the Tigers were shackled, especially in the third period when the tide turned heavily in Rain or Shine’s favor.
Also, David struggled with his shooting as he made only 9 of his 23 attempts and only went 5-of-14 from the three-point area.
“We just shot better today and we worked hard better from the last time. It’s the simple reason why we won,” said Painters head coach Yeng Guiao.
The Painters made 10-of-26 from beyond the three-point arc and all in all shot 48 percent from the field.
The Elasto Painters led, 25-21, after the first quarter and extended that lead to eight, 53-45, at halftime, thanks to rainbow territory binge of Paul Lee and Jeff Chan late in the second stanza.
In the third, RoS took advantage of Powerade’s horrendous shooting as they started the second half with a 16-5 blast.
Chan, who led the Painters with 19, sparked the run with a fastbreak layup and a booming trey from the left wing. Then, Cebuano power forward JR Quinahan, formerly of the University of the Visayas, capped off that rally with a short jumper and a long three-point bomb that gave them a 69-50 lead with six minutes left in the third.
Compounding Powerade’s troubles in the third canto was their 6-0f-23 shooting from the field, a dismal 26.1 percent clip.
