Fire guts house in Malabon City; no one hurt

By

MANILA, Philippines – A fire that reached the third alarm gutted a two-story residential house Monday night in Malabon City, causing an estimated P300,000 worth of damage to property.

The blaze, the cause of which has yet to be determined, began at 7:46 p.m. in the house of Lisa Tano-Evangelista on Samson St. in Barangay Baritan.

Although her residence was made of light combustible materials, which could have caused the fire to spread quickly, the blaze only reached the third alarm because firefighters managed to respond immediately, Fireman Officer 3 Gabriel Manuel of the Malabon Central Fire Station said.

Firemen put out the blaze less than an hour after it started, or at 8:43 p.m.

There were no reported casualties in the incident.
