TUGUEGARAO CITY — A 47-year-old father and three of his children drowned in an irrigation canal in Amulung, Cagayan on Monday, police said.

Police Master Sergeant Romel Damagan, Amulung police investigator, said the father, who was identified as Angel Bangloy, drowned after he fell into the irrigation canal, which is 7-feet  deep.

His three children, who were tailing him, also drowned while trying to rescue him.

Their deaths, however, are not election-related even though they were on their way to a poll center in Amulung town to vote, police said. (Editor: Leti Z. Boniol)
