Corona won’t resign, to face impeach panel—Midas Marquez

MANILA, Philippines—Chief Justice Renato Corona will not resign, but will squarely face the impeachment case against him, Supreme Court Spokesman Jose Midas Marquez said.

At the same time, Marquez called on Aquino to stop dishing out tirades against Corona and the Supreme Court since the impeachment has already reached the Senate.

“The Chief Justice will face all these complaints at the appropriate time so let us wait,” Marquez told reporters at the sidelines of the oath-taking ceremony of the officers and board of trustees of the Regional Trial Court Association of Manila, where he was guest speaker.

“Whoever is putting all these words on our President is doing a great disservice. We already have the complaint so let us wait for the reply,” Marquez said.

Marquez also claimed that Corona’s resignation is what is actually wanted by the executive branch and the Congressmen.
