Epileptic man drowns off Talisay

A 45-year-old man drowned off the seawaters of Kalubihan Beach, barangay Poblacion, Talisay City, south Cebu, after he went fishing yesterday morning.

Ricky Orquiaz had a seizure attack when he fell in the waters and drowned.

Initial police investigation revealed that Orquiaz’s neighbors noticed the victim’s recurring bouts of epilepsy 30 minutes before he went to the shoreline.

When the victim recovered, he went fishing with his friend Argie Lingaw-lingaw and stayed on top of the sea rocks past 9 a.m.

Lingaw-lingaw said that after ten minutes fishing, the victim told him that he will go home. However, he said he was surprised when he saw his friend already in the waters struggling after having another seizure.

Lingaw-lingaw immediately swam into the waters to save his friend and rushed him to the Talisay District Hospital.

Doctors declared  Orquiaz already dead when he was brought to the hospital./correspondent rhea ruth rossel with gabriel bonjoc
