Filipino gymnasts collar 20 medals in HK

YOUNG Filipino gymnasts bagged a total of 20 medals including five golds in the Age Group HK Gymnastics Carnival held last Dec. 4 in Hong Kong.

Playing under the banner of Let’s Cartwheel Gymnastics Team, Rina Anglela Rafa, 7, won a gold medal in the vault, a silver in the Floor Exercise and bronze in the Balance Beam and All-Around.

Other members of the team who brought medals are Rica Angela Cirujales, 8, who won gold in the Floor Exercise, silver in the Vault and bronze in the Balance Beam and Uneven Bars; Erika Luces Borromeo,10, who took home bronze medals in the Vault and Balance Beam events; Marie Angel Calilung,12, who won gold in the Balance Beam and Uneven Bars, silver in the Floor Exercise and All-Around and bronze in Vault; Akio Casillan Kawachi, 11, a child with autism who captured a bronze medal in the Vault; Jia Casillan Kawachi,12, who won the gold in the Vault and bronze in the Floor Exercise, Uneven Bars and Balance Beam.

The students who train regularly at the Celebrity Sports Plaza come from Miriam College, Multiple Intelligence International School, Piagetian Guided Educational Center and Shine Intervention Center. Delegation Head is coach Rey Brogada. Correspondent MARLON BERNARDINO
